Happy New Year 2012! Burkeville ISD students will return to school on January 3, 2012. BISD will not end the first semester until January 12, 2012. The teachers and students will be working on first semester exams during January 9th - 12th , 2012.
TAKS and STAAR - standardized tests will begin towards the end of February through the 3rd week of May. BISD district curriculum is CSCOPE from Region 5. The faculty has had several in-services to prepare for this rigorous curriculum.
Burkeville believe in striving to reach the potential of every student.
This leads me to a quote that represents BISD belief in education:
Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, which we must fervently believe in, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.

BURKEVILLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS DEDICATED JANUARY AS SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH
Burkeville ISD would like to recognize their board members for their commitment to Burkeville ISD. Members are Joe B. Clark, President; Raymon Lacy, Vice President; Cora Myers, Secretary; Sheila Phelps, Member; Misty Richmond, Member; Colinda Love, Member; and Ronald Graham, Member. Even though showing appreciation should be a year-round process, taking advantage of the designated School Board Recognition Month in January assures that these important people receive some of the thanks they deserve.
“Such recognition can encourage veteran trustees to continue to make the commitment board service requires; other citizens might be encouraged to get involved in the schools and help make a positive change,” said Mrs. Paula Quick, BISD Superintendent of Schools.
We thank each member for their continues commitment in serving Burkeville ISD!
