Burkeville Independent School District is nestled among the tall pines of Northern Newton County.  The District is composed of 301 square miles in the heart of beautiful East Texas.  The East side of the District is bordered by the Sabine River, which is the state line between Texas and Louisiana.  Toledo Bend Dam and Lake provides fishing, hiking, and recreation on the Northern border with Sabine County.  The Burkeville Area is truly a Sportsman Paradise with the largest man made lake in Texas (Toledo) connected with Lake Sam Rayburn just 20 miles to the West and connected by Scenic Rec 255.  Burkeville is a community of ethnic diversity supported by satellite communities of Toledo Village, Jamestown, Shankleville, Wiergate, Farrsville and Mayflower.
