Burkeville ISD has an average enrollment of approximately 300 in grades PK - 12.  Ethnicity is approximately 59% Anglo, 40% African American and 1% Hispanic/Other.  Enrollment has been stable but diminished slowly since becoming UIL A Classification in 1986.  Average Daily Attendance ranges from 95% to 97%.

Burkeville accesses Texas Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) while offering multiple and diverse electives.  Focal electives include Computer Technology, Welding, Family Consumer Science, Criminal Justice, Business, Spanish, and Agriculture.  There is concurrent Distance Learning for college and high school credits.  Many students have graduated with more than thirty hours of transferable university credit.  Vocational organizations are championship quality with multiple state championship welding honors while Family Consumer Science, Computer Science and Agriculture programs are very competitive at state or local levels.  Burkeville is certainly a quiet, safe and rural but fulfilling area of Texas to call home while students receive a quality education.

The Burkeville ISD professional staff consists of three administrators (Superintendent, , Secondary Principal, Elementary Principal).  There are 28 teachers (K-12) classified by Texas Education Agency as Highly Qualified.  Paraprofessional personnel include three PEIMS officer/clerks, a nurse, 8 aides and 11 auxiliary support.

Burkeville ISD is composed of Elementary, Middle and High School Campuses that facilitate regular, special and vocational education to meet the needs of all students.

The secondary facility houses both high school (9-12) and Middle School (7-8), two gymnasiums, a spacious library, two computer labs and a state of the arts Recreational Center.  The latest gym is a beautiful facility that opened in 2003 with individual theater style folding seating and a top quality JBL Sound System.

The Elementary School has a high quality computer lab and a gymnasium for inclimate weather.  Agricultural and Welding Departments are housed in independent buildings, each apart from the main secondary building but adjacent on either side.  A band hall and central district administration office is situated in a beautiful new building complex housing the new gym across the street from the main high school building entrance.  A large new field house is located beside the football stadium and track.  To the South of the Agricultural facility between the high school and elementary is a modern state of the arts technology Learning Center with distance learning studio, conference room and 50 networked computer internet stations.  The elementary campus is made up of a historic restored main building, an arts wing, primary facility, a publishing building and nurses office.  Maintenance and transportation departments are housed in buildings adjacent to campuses.

Burkeville ISD has an annual budget of approximately $3.9 million (state, local and federal sources combined).  Per pupil expenditure exceeds $4,500.  The combined tax rate (M&O) is $1.1975/$100 value.
